12th April, Riga, Latvia

With the launch of Riga Circus to a National Centre for Circus Education in the Latvian capital, circus education in the Baltic region is set to spiral and increase in significance in the coming years.

The neighbouring Nordic countries have a wealth of experience in different areas and levels of circus education spanning many years – we want to kick start this exciting development by bringing partners and peers together from the region and beyond for an international conference that reviews where the region is at the moment and highlights our shared inspiration for the future.

We will be hearing from Mikko Rinnevuori (FI), Steven Desanghere (BE), Clara Norman (SE) and Astrid Schorn (DE) amongst other notable speakers and experts in our field.

We invite you, artists, policy makers and professionals to participate and hear motivating speeches about models of teaching, curriculums, phd research study and inspiring projects of the most experienced, knowledgeable and cutting-edge in our field.

This activity is a collaboration between Riga Circus, Latvian Academy of Culture, Manegen  and Baltic Nordic Circus Network, with support from Dance and Circus University in Stockholm (DOCH/Uniarts), CircusInfo Finland, Salpaus (FI), Finnish Youth Circus Association (FI) and Circomedia (UK).

We will focus on how ‘art’ can transform people’s’ lives through teaching and how to create structures to educate the best circus artists for tomorrow’s brave world.

To attend the conference is free of charge. The registration form includes wrap around activities to discover Riga Circus site, attend official drinks reception and showcase of Latvian circus work. Please note that the show and lunch is available at a cost. Everything is free, unless specified.

After registering you will be kept in the loop of updates and further information before arrival.
