Riga Circus (Rīgas Cirks), a member of BNCN has some exciting news! The Latvian Ministry of Culture has appointed Māra Pāvula, previously the head of Riga Circus School (Rīgas Cirka Skola), and its current head of strategic development, as the new director of Riga Circus (Rīgas Cirks). Pāvula started her duties on the 3rd of January.
Māra Pāvula shared an insight into her relationship with circus: “I see the circus not only as an art, but also as a value system that cherishes diversity, cooperation, growth, and courage. I feel very honored and moved that I have been entrusted to lead the Rīgas Cirks, and in the next five years I plan to do my best to achieve the largest circle of society through art.”
The Riga Cirus team expressed their gratitude to Pāvulas predecessor, Liene Pērkone, who had a significant role in preparing and starting the reconstruction of the historical circus building and making Riga Circus the co-host of BNCN.
We at the Baltic Nordic Circus Network thank Liene Pērkone for all her hard work that has been crucial to getting us this far, and welcome Māra Pāvula into her new role!
