Baltic Nordic Circus Network is thrilled to welcome Bærum Kulturhus - Dance South-East Norway as a new member!

Bærum Kulturhus – Dans Southeast-Norway (BK-DSN) is a performing arts venue and a centre for professional contemporary dance and circus development. BK- DSN is located in Sandvika in the Greater Oslo region and receives its main funding from the Ministry of Culture in Norway, the Akershus region and the municipality of Bærum.

BK-DSN is a significant curatorial venue for both Norwegian and international performances, as well as a production house/co-producing partner. BK-DSN aims at being at the forefront within artistic development, production and programming of contemporary dance, circus and movement based/physical performing arts.

BK-DSN works strategically to develop infrastructure for dance and circus in Norway through regional, national and international collaboration. We run a growing network of infrastructure, offering residency and co-production in collaboration with 3 different venues in the South-East region, and through emerging Interregional and Pan-European initiatives. Bærum Kulturhus – Dance Southeast-Norway has a proven track record as a project leader for both Creative Europe and EEA initiatives, and has been developing, leading and taking part in numerous international collaboration projects in Europe and globally, both bilaterally and as part of new and existing networks. Fall 2024 we are running a pre-project investigating a possible build of a production hall for contemporary circus in Sandvika.

Other BK-DSN activity includes co-running and collaborating on several projects for emerging professional artists, such as Kreativ Lab (in collaboration with CODA Oslo International Dance Festival) and NSP2 (in collaboration with Nagelhus Schia Productions). BK-DSN is one of 5 partners in Dancenet Norway/ the National Touring Network for Dance. We are also the curator and producer of the Cultural Schoolbag performing arts programme in Bærum.

"Bærum Kulturhus - Dance South-East Norway is delighted to join the BNCN. Being part of the network aligns with our aim to develop contemporary circus in Norway, and we look forward to connecting with and contributing to the network" says Grethe Brækkan, dance and circus programmer at Bærum Kulturhus - Dance South-East Norway (Grethe is at the end right in the picture).
